Bharathidasan Government College for Women established in the year 1968 is a landmark institution in the educational history of Puducherry. It is a premier institution with 55 years of standing, imparting education in Arts, Commerce & Science disciplines in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Over the years, this college has shown innovative approach to higher education by way of diversification and by introducing a restructured syllabi and also attracting 14 under graduate courses and one PhD programme with more than 5,000 students. Infrastructure for each department is amply provided with furnished class rooms and well equipped laboratories with necessary equipment and apparatus to cater to the needs of our students. To inculcate the spirit of service to humanitarian , two NSS unita are functioning in the college with around 200 hundred students besides an NCC unit.

Education should make the students not only knowledgeable but also mould them into a disciplined citizens with courage and confidence. To achieve this noble aim, various programmes like placement, skill development services, counselling programme, career guidance, entrepreneurship skill, alumni association etc., are functioning in the college. Students are encouraged to participate in sports events with the help of Physical Education Department, at intramural, inter-collegiate, state, national and international levels.
