Special Lecture on “TWINKLING OF STARS”

 

The Department of Physics has celebrated the “year of light” by organising a lecture on “Twinkling of Stars” in association with Pondicherry Science Forum. Prof. Dr. SABAYASACHI CHATTERJEE, Professor Emeritus, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore has delivered the special lecture. Dr. Sasi Kanta Dash, Principal, Bharathidasan Govt. College for Women, Puducherry has presided over the function. The prize winners of the Essay writing competition conducted on the previous day of the function,in connection with this celebration, is awarded. Ms. P. Divya of III B.Sc. Physics and Ms. M. Kowsalya of II B. Sc. Physics won the 1st and 2nd prizes respectively and the third prize was given to Ms. Sankarai of III B.Sc. Physics. The prizes were distriduted by our Principal and the Chief Guest jointly. Our B.Sc. Physics students and faculty were attended the lecture.  The Head of the Department Mrs. G. Shakila , welcomed the dignitaries and other guests. The function started at 10.30 am and ended at 12.30pm and was covered by news media and tv media, The general secretaries of Pondicherry Science Forum, Mrs. Hemavathy, Mr. Ragunath and Mr.Murugavel were also attended the lecture and delivered felicitation address.
